From this spring

Attached are a couple of photos of my roses this spring. (First) is a shot of one of my Climbing American Beauty (1909) roses. It’s actually starting from the ground below the deck and has been trained up the deck rails onto the swing. The blue pot is normally a fountain (not in the winter). We hadn’t gotten the fountain set up when I took the photo.

(Next) is a shot of a couple of roses in the front. The red one is Maggie (found) and the white one is a Penelope (1924). For some reason, this year Katy Road (Carefree Beauty) didn’t put on the show she normally does, but the others outdid themselves. The American Beauty roses hit maturity this year, I think. I’ve been working with them for four years. They always bloom, but this was the first year they did the traffic-stopping thing.

Not to worry about Katy Road Pink (Carefree Beauty), she usually starts a little later than some of the others - I bet by now she has put on a pretty nice show. Thank you so much for the photos, Debbie.
